Early next month our District will be hosting Jesuina da Costa Belo, a 15 year old girl from Bacau, Timor Leste.  Jesuina, who has Rheumatic Heart Disease, has been accepted by Monash Medical Centre, under Dr Andrew Cochrane, to have surgery to repair her mitral valve.

When not in hospital, Jesuina and her mother Teresa, will be hosted at the home of Judy and John Berends.  A heart felt thank you to Judy and John and to the Rotary Club of Seaford Carrum Downs, for, once again supporting ROMAC.  At present we have 2 more families standing by to host ROMAC children.
In the last 8 months we have created a District Committee, made up of Rotarians from the Rotary Clubs of Endeavour Hills, Seaford Carrum Downs, Drouin and Berwick.  We would love to have more members on our ROMAC Committee, especially from some of our Clubs further east and south east of Warragul.

I would like to thank the Rotary Clubs in our District who allocated funds to ROMAC in the last Rotary year.  The Committee and I would love to see more Clubs remember ROMAC in the next 12 months.  We are always looking for new committee members in our District, as well as people who can assist with driving the child and their parent to and from appointments, whilst they are here.  We need a bank of ‘helpers’ so if you think this may be something you, or someone you know, would like to do, please get in touch with us.

August is an exciting time for ROMAC, as Guides Victoria has nominated ROMAC as their chosen Charity for their August Action (formally bob-a-job).  So, if you have Guides knocking on your door during August please support them, as they, in turn will be supporting the work, we, as Rotarians do, by donating funds to ROMAC.  Special thanks needs to go to past ROMAC Chair for our District, Rob Wingrave, who made the initial suggestion to Guides Victoria to make ROMAC their chosen charity for this year. Well done Rob!

If you are able to assist in any way, would like to join the ROMAC committee, would like to know more or you would like to have a Guest Speaker from ROMAC attend your Club meeting, please contact me on d9820chair@romac.org.au

Thank you
